Personal Evaluation Write up
In this project, I have developed some new skills, for example. I have learnt how to move pictures and texts around to where I want them, and how to add layers. I've also learnt how to change the page sizes.
My weaknesses are text, i'm still not sure how to add shadows, colour to the text so it stands out more instead of it being boring, i could improve it by learning how to use PhotoShop abit better so i can make the writing more appealing.
I think i'm doing ok because I havent used PhotoShop before so what i have picked up in the one lesson I think I've done quite well. The skills I have to develop further would be text and layers because at the moment I find them quite hard to use so once I get the hang of them I should be fine.
The skills I've used in my project are Layers, Text control and Contrast and Brightness Control. I think I've used these skills quite effectively because you can look at the photo and you can tell they have been used to make it stand out more so it appeals to the target audience.
If I had the chance to do this project again I would change the object(Caramel Bars) because it was rather hard to see who the target audience was. The skills i have identified are Text Control, Layers, Brightness and Contrast Control and Gradients.
My target audience before I re-branded it was for adults mainly women because they are the ones that go food shopping and are looking for deals. But now my new target audience is for adults (women) but also more towards teenagers because most of them love chocolate and caramel, they also like trying new things if they see their friends eating something they will want to buy one to fit in, see what all the fuss is about.
The elements that work well with engaging my audience are how i've brightened the Caramel Bar and darkened the background. These elements work because the Bar now stands out alot more so the target audience knows what the main object is so they can buy it.
The elements I think don't work well is the font, I could of made it more interesting by adding shadows to it and theres also the background it's abit boring. If I had the chance to do this project again i would make the poster have 3 colours that will appeal to both male and female audience and have the slogan more bold with a different font and coloured shadows.
I don't think it is tailored to meet the demands of my Target Audience because it's plain and boring so they will look and it and look away because its not eye catching, to get my Target Audience interested i could use different colours, effects (shadows), different fonts.
Colour- I used the brightness/contrast tool, Hue and Saturation, Exposure, drop shadow, outer glow, Inner glow, colour overlay and stoke. I used these to make the background darker so the object (caramel bar) stands out from the background. The colours used are gold, red, and white because that is the actual packaging colour of the bar, and the background is leaves which are green and brown. I purposely made the background darker so the object will stand out and attract the Target Audience. These colours contrast because brown, red, green and gold are autumn colours plus by the background you can tell its autumn because that’s when they start coming off the tree.
Image- Camera angle used in this poster are a close up, where you can see the hands holding the bar and the bar itself. On the poster you can see the bar and the background and you can tell that the background is much darker than the object so it’s more eye-catching.
Text Usage- “Share you know you want to!!!” is the slogan which I have made black and red. I put the lettering in Black and the outline Red the font I used is Gill sans Ultra Bold. The Key words are “You Know You Want To” because by this it’s tempting the audience to buy one to try it. The 2 hands holding the bar shows that they are going to share it because they are 2 different hands, there’s no emotional connotation because it was a close up of the Caramel Bar.
Layout – The Slogan is at the bottom because I couldn’t really put it at the top because I would be covering up half the main picture, I have put the text in the centre because it’s underneath the picture so it will catch the readers eye because it’s in Bold letters. Text is straight because you don’t want to many distractions so the audience will look away from the main picture (caramel bar), I used shadows to make the text more effective.
Some really good work here Leanne, especially like how you have broken down specific skills and discussed them in detail.
ReplyDeleteCould have discuss the concept of yor idea in more detail, and related it to how it appealed to your audience.
